Bookshelf and lamp in one: the Bibliothèque Nationale floor lamp with USB connection
For bookworms who always have their finger on the pulse, even digitally, this floor lamp by French designer Philippe Starck is just the thing. It can do more than just provide light next to your favorite armchair or sofa. Along the linkage are shelf-like stainless steel shelves that provide space for books, cell phone or tablet PC. So that one does not have to do without the benefits of the digital world while browsing through books, a USB socket is attached to the base of the lamp as a charging station for tablets and smartphones.
Philippe Starck, the designer, describes his floor lamp Bibliothèque Nationale as a “magical bookshelf where the books rise and fly towards the light.” Starck has created several lighting series for Italian lighting manufacturer FLOS. FLOS has won many awards with the designs of its versatile and imaginative designers and is internationally renowned for its design luminaires.
